Choosing Rooftop Concrete Pavers
When a rooftop deck needs to perform for decades with minimal fuss, concrete pavers are the default for good reason. Architectural concrete is exceptionally durable: it resists cracking under impact and point loads, shrugs off freeze-thaw cycling, and does not depend on a fragile surface layer for its strength. It is also the easiest surface to live with. Cleaning is straightforward, individual pavers are inexpensive to replace if one is ever damaged, and the color runs through the material rather than sitting on top of it.
Concrete's weight is an asset on a roof. On a pedestal grid, that mass adds stability against wind compared with lighter surfaces, and the standard sizes course cleanly over the SkyJack layout. Water drains through the open joints to the membrane and away below the deck, and any paver lifts out for roof access. Porcelain has a real place in the lineup, its design range and large-format looks are unmatched, but for durability, maintenance, and long-term cost of ownership, concrete is the stronger performer.
The SkyWalk line is organized in tiers, from Tier 1 natural concrete through Tier 4 designer colors, spanning earth tones, grays, tans and browns, reds, whites, and dark colors, plus dedicated Cool Roof pavers with high solar-reflectance values for projects targeting heat-island reduction or reflective-roof credits. How long do concrete pavers last on a rooftop?
Decades. Architectural concrete handles impact, load, and freeze-thaw cycling exceptionally well, and because the color runs through the paver, wear does not expose a different material underneath.
Is concrete or porcelain more durable?
Concrete. Porcelain offers a broader design range and large-format looks, but concrete is the more durable, lower-maintenance surface. If longevity and cost of ownership drive the decision, specify concrete; if a specific aesthetic drives it, porcelain with safety backing.
Do you have cool-roof options?

How heavy are they, and will my roof carry it?
